Mister Puppy Europe

Bjoyd de woef

On 21 February 2016, Europe elected a fresh Mr Puppy Europe. Pup Bjoyd won the competition and succeeds pup Krizsly. He will represent Europe at the international puppy contest in St Louis during June.

What do you do for a living?
I’m currently following a training programme in travel and hospitality and I should graduate this year. I’m still undecided about what to do next – there are so many choices. I like to work with people and engage in social contact. I’ve also had a passion for trains since I was young, perhaps I’ll pursue a career on the tracks.

Why did you participate in this competition?
I’m quite new to puppy play. It started out about one year ago. After a few months attending events, I really got the hang of it. I spoke to many other pups about their experiences and started to build a puppy character of my own, Bjoyd. When I learned about the Mr Puppy EU election, I hesitated at first. But my friends told me I would make a good pup so I took on the challenge.

What attracts you in puppy play?
I like it because it is not a sex-oriented fetish, but more of a mind game. You can let your creativity run wild in a playful relationship with your handler. As a pup, you don’t have to face everyday realities such as work and school, and all the stresses that come with them. The life of a pet is basically pure instinct. The mental state you obtain is called puppy space, inner peace. The interaction with the handler and other people attracts me the most. Mind play is at the top of my list of interests. It has to do with my condition as an ADHD patient. My head is normally constantly full, but during puppy play I find the calmness, the relaxation, that I long for.

Is puppy play a game for all ages?
Sure, puppy play is for all ages. Because it only recently became popular, many youngsters have adopted the fetish. But there are older pups as well. At Darklands, during Leatherpride Belgium, most of the pups at Camp K9 were around 25 to 30 years old. But there was one older pup who seemed a bit excluded because of his age. He didn’t receive much attention and the other pups didn’t play with him. When I saw this, I didn’t hesitate to join him for play. It doesn’t matter what age you are, puppy play is for everyone.
